Honolulu Office Welcomes JESSE Students for a Day of Discovery and Fun

On June 19th, our Honolulu office welcomed students from the University of Hawai‘i’s College of Engineering JESSE Program for an engaging, hands-on look at life at SSFM.

A heartfelt MAHALO goes to Civil group’s Sara Nakagaki for organizing the visit, and to all the enthusiastic staff volunteers who brought their energy and insight to the event.

SSFM has proudly supported JESSE for more than a decade, continually creating immersive experiences that go far beyond the typical firm tour. We’ve made it our mission to make these visits meaningful, interactive, and fun.

Returning for another round was The Game of SSFM, a now-signature activity that turns our work into a dynamic and memorable experience. With SSFM project challenges, cross-disciplinary trivia, and Action Cards based on real-life scenarios, the game sparked curiosity and plenty of laughs, while offering a snapshot of the SSFM culture.

The Junior Engineers Summer STEM Experience (JESSE) is a UH College of Engineering program designed to inspire high school students exploring careers in engineering. We’re especially proud that Sara, a former JESSE participant, is now guiding the next generation both with her efforts hosting the program annually at our office and as a mentor for the FIRST Tech Challenge (a robotics competition).
