Ka Haka Ula O Ke‘Elikōlani

SSFM is the Prime Consultant for the planning and design of the Hawaiian Language Building at the University of Hawaii at Hilo Campus. The building is composed of education rooms, office space and a small radio station. In addition to project management, SSFM prepared the environmental assessment and provided structural and civil engineering services. The building is approximately 60,000 sq.ft.

The scope of the project includes:
Plan and design the project to attain facility sustainability with certification under the L.E.E.D. Green Building Rating System or a comparable rating system;
Provide geotechnical and topographic surveys for a complete project design;
Prepare Project Development Report, with the use of charrettes, to develop special and functional requirements for the program;
Prepare site evaluation of 3 proposed sites on campus;
Provide site development to include grading, roads, utility distribution, drainage, connection to existing pedestrian walkway system, parking areas and service drives;
Amend the UH Hilo Long Range Development Plan;
Prepare Environmental Assessment;
Provide observation and construction administration services during construction; and
Any other work required by the University to complete the project.
