East Kapolei Middle School

The new East Kapolei Middle School serves an initial enrollment of 1,050 sixth to eighth grade students with on-site expansion capacity that allows the school’s enrollment to grow to 1,400. Students come from the surrounding Campbell Complex Area elementary school within the DOE’s Leeward District. The $59 million first phase for this West Oahu school includes an administration building, library, cafeteria, classrooms, covered and open play courts, and a music building.

SSFM prepared the environmental assessment and provided structural and civil engineering services. The 18-acre parcel of land will house a campus designed to support student innovation and collaborative learning. Science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) and art classrooms will be highly visible focal points of the school, with ample areas for indoor and outdoor learning and events.

The environmental assessment complied with Hawaii’s environmental regulations under
Hawaii Revised Statutes Chapter 343, and Hawaii Administrative Rules Title 11, Chapter 200.
