Improve Kadena Family Housing Infrastructure

Phase 3 – Preparation of Final Design Documents FY14 LXEZ 14-4287

Upgrading and improving the electrical, water and sewer infrastructure for the Military Family Housing at Kadema Air Base’s Kishaba Terrace at Camp Foster and Stearley Heights housing areas included:

Electrical System – replacing and upgrading the existing overhead distribution system with an underground electrical distribution system for affecting 234 housing units. Pole mount transformers with pad mounts, duct banks, streetlight and common areas and all secondary service lines were replaced.

Water System – replacing and upgrading the area’s water distribution system for water mains, laterals, gate valves, and hydrants.

Sewer System – replacing and upgrading all existing sewer mains, laterals, and manholes with PVC piping and new concrete manholes.

SSFM was the Prime Consultant for the pre-design conference, on-site design charrette, site investigations, on-site OBR conferences and preparation of contract documents including drawings, specifications, design analysis, and cost estimates. The project was the first major U.S. funded program to be solicited in 3 separate MATOC construction task orders. All solutions met applicable US and local Japanese laws and codes.
