Sand Island Wastewater Treatment Plant Outfall Improvements/Rehabilitation

SSFM is the Prime Consultant responsible for the planning and design effort to improve or rehabilitate the Sand Island Wastewater Treatment Plan Ocean Outfall. The outfall consists of 12,518 feet of reinforced concrete pipe that runs from the stop gate structure on land, to the end of the diffuser flap gate structure.

Working with Sea Engineering, Inc., SSFM developed a work plan for conducting the research and preparation of a report on proposed methods, cost, and schedule for conducting the assessment. SSFM is managing the process that includes a multibeam survey and an exterior offshore inspection utilizing the Hawaii Undersea Research Laboratory submersible. Addional assessment tasks include pipeline station marker placement, exterior inshore inspections, and tracer dye testing.
