Waimea Nui Homestead Community Agricultural Park Non-Potable Water System

SSFM provided design services for 1,000 feet of off-site non-potable water line, 7,000 feet of on-site non-potable water line, a 200,000 gallon non-potable water storage tank and a booster pump system to support a community agricultural park that uses non-potable water from the Department of Agriculture’s Paiakuli Reservoir. We also coordinated the unexploded ordinance (UXO) surface reconnaissance by certified technicians in support of geotechnical and topographic survey work.

A priority was maintaining contact with the community to ensure that their priorities were met within the limited funds available. Through our network we were able to identify a $125,000 potential cost savings with a new 100,000 gallon steel water tank that the Honolulu Board of Water Supply was looking to donate. Ultimately, the community decided not to utilize the tank, and HBWS gave it to the DHHL for use on another of their sites.
